Word of mouth is a powerful marketing tool, and as the word spread about our skills and charisma, we began to get more and more gigs. We were able to upgrade our lighting and sound equipment to the professional-grade equipment we have today. In the first three years of business, we worked over 250 weddings. As we grew, we began to add to our staff, hiring Jonathan Kelton, Kyle Floyd and Nick Martin to assist at our growing number of events. The sky is the limit for our growth, as we aim to keep the parties going all around Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, Staunton and Waynesboro, as well as Augusta County.
As co-founders of Prime Time Event Group, Derek, Floyd, and I began our business DJing for friends’ events
More than 10 years ago, I had a friend who came to me and said, “Frank, you have a lot of music, a nice sound system and are not scared to speak in front of people. How about you DJ my wedding?” That pattern continued over the next 5-6 years, with more people asking me to DJ. Then my friend Derek Floyd asked me if I was willing to DJ a wedding here and there. That was the beginning of Prime Time Event Group. Since then, I’ve gone through extensive training and we have DJed over 250 weddings and events. I love knowing that we make sure our clients’ wedding or event is not just a great memory, but an amazing experience that they will cherish forever.
I asked Frank Smith to DJ my wedding more than ten years ago. We worked together to set up what I wanted, and he executed it perfectly. Since I had also been DJing, some friends and family asked me to DJ their wedding. I had Frank come with me once or twice, and that is when we had the idea to start a business. Now, as Prime Time Event Group, we are helping our clients have a great experience with their events. Music is my passion. Nothing is more fun than seeing the smile on our clients’ faces on their big day.

My love for music started as a young boy hanging out at the radio station with my father, where he was a disc jockey for 20 years. I played many musical instruments, as I fell in love with jazz, blues and rock. I have been DJing events for 10+ years and enjoy how music takes us to a special place and helps make our memories last forever.
Ever since I was a kid, I have loved music. I can’t remember a time before my 20’s when I didn’t have my headphones on. Music has a way of bringing people together and making them happy. Being able to offer that joy with Prime Time Event Group has been amazing.
